The key points of the English language arts common core standards address reading, writing, listening and speaking, language (vocabulary and conventions) and media and technology. You can watch a webinar and download the standards from the Common Core State Standards Initiative homepage. Information about how Missouri is making the transition to the CCSS is available from DESE. Our curriculumOur class follows a set of units designed by Raytown district English teachers. We update our curriculum to stay current in addressing the grade level expectations established by the Missouri department of Elementary and Secondary Education. As Missouri moves to full implementation of the Common Core State Standards, our curriculum will evolve to meet the new standards.
