Publishing the Grades
I publish scores to PowerSchool as soon as I grade the assignments, so it is possible that parents and students will see the grades and comments that are recorded before I have had an had an opportunity to talk to the students about their graded assignments.
I grade assignments as quickly as possible. I usually grade late papers during the weekend, so I can use weekday evenings to assess current work and prepare my next day’s lesson. The date listed for last update is the last time there was a change to the student's grade. |
Interpreting the Information
All of my assignments have descriptions viewable by clicking the blue hyperlink from the assignment name. The descriptions are intended to identify the assignment, but they are not the complete directions for the assignment.
A dash in the score space indicates an assignment that I have listed, but that is either not due or not graded. Scores that are in blue have a hyperlink to a comment that explains the score. The most frequent comments are "incomplete" and "didn't follow directions." Anytime an assignment is not turned in, I enter a zero and the comment code "M" for missing, which shows up as a yellow-brown square in the code column. If a student has been absent, the grade will be marked as missing until it is turned in and graded. When work is turned in late, I change the comment code to “L” for late, along with the points earned. A red triangle is the symbol for late in the code column. Refer to the student planner for information about the district policies on absent make-up time, deductions for late work, and grade reductions for absences. |
